The deal allows Albert Heijn the opportunity to give its customers even more service and convenience in stores with postal services at Albert Heijn service desks. Introducing innovative products and services – such as postal services – is just one way in which Albert Heijn is working to win the hearts of customers.

“Albert Heijn is a service supermarket where ordinary everyday and also special goods and services are available and affordable,” said Albert Heijn Commercial Director Albert Voogd.

“In line with this we want to expand our service, for example with everyday requirement like post.”

Voogd and TNT Post Retail Director Yme Pasma sealed the deal in mid-March. The signing followed consumer research which found that people are interested in having postal services in the stores or shopping centers where they come to do their shopping.

The partnership helps TNT Post in its ambition to expand its retail business with 750 new TNT post offices.

At the same time, Albert Heijn is able to expand the overall service level it offers to customers. In particular, Albert Heijn’s late opening hours means that customers have more flexibility when it comes to taking care of the errands they would normally do in a post office.

Yme Pasma, Retail Director at TNT Post, said the combination was likely to be a hit with customers. "We are pleased with the partnership with Albert Heijn because we know that our clients will readily complete their postal errands at the same time as their grocery shopping.
