"It's definitely time to celebrate," says Gall & Gall director Peter Zoutendijk. "We're very proud of this milestone."
Staff working for Gall & Gall and Etos in Beverwijk and those working for Albert Heijn and Ahold in Zaandam will find an anniversary postcard in their mailbox this week with a special offer coupon. Customers at Gall & Gall will see a number of attractive offers and actions in the stores. "We're pushing the boat out," says Zoutendijk, "and my advice to everyone is to keep an eye out for the Gall & Gall flyer in the mail."
Store interiors will take on a festive look and meeting room B505 at the head office of Albert Heijn in Zaandam has been decorated in 125 years of Gall & Gall style.
It was in 1884 that Maria Gall opened her liquor store in the Ferdinand Bolstraat in the heart of Amsterdam, offering a wide assortment of fine liqueurs and wines, the traditional Dutch liquor Jenever, French cognac and pure lemon syrup. She kept 21st century shop hours, staying open seven days a week from 7 am until 8 pm. Orders were delivered by delivery bicycle. Maria Gall's motto was: No order too large, no order too small, no order too far. It is a motto that still applies 125 years later, although now Gall & Gall has 530 stores throughout the Netherlands and is the country's market leader.
