Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States – Ahold USA today announced that Rick Herring has been appointed Division President of Giant Carlisle, based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Giant Carlisle operates 152 stores in the states of Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia under the names of Giant Food Stores, Martin’sFood Markets and Giant To Go.

Herring will report to Carl Schlicker, CEO of Ahold USA Retail. He succeeds Sander van der Laan who has been appointed General Manager of Albert Heijn in the Netherlands. A Dutch national, Van der Laan has served as President and CEO of Giant Carlisle since July 2008.

A twenty year veteran of Giant Carlisle, Herring served most recently as Executive Vice President of Finance and has been Chief Financial Officer since 2003. He has also been instrumental in the organization of Ahold Financial Services, Ahold USA’s shared financial service center located in Carlisle, PA.

Herring has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Albright College and a Masters in Business

Administration/Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
