Zaandam, June 2, 2010 – Starting 7 June, Albert Heijn will be giving its customers a super-enthusiastic ‘Orange’ supporter gift: Beesie, specially designed for the 2010 World Cup. With this cuddly World Cup mascot, ‘Orange’ fans can show that they proudly support the Dutch team. A total of 31 million Beesies will be distributed prior to and during the World Cup in the colours orange, red, white and blue. Customers will receive a free Beesie with every € 15 purchase. Large Beesies and Beesie caps will also be available. Beesie will also be pulling out all the stops online to support the Dutch team during the coming weeks.

Beesie is the greatest supporter of the Netherlands and will be popping up everywhere during the World Cup. ‘Orange heroes’ play the leading role in Beesie commercial
While Premier League players are already a very welcome sight in Albert Heijn commercials, big stars from the Dutch national team will be playing the leading role in the new spectacular Beesie commercial, created especially for the World Cup. In the commercial, players from the Orange team such as Robin van Persie, Nigel de Jong and Maarten Stekelenburg go shopping and are taken by surprise by super-enthusiastic Beesies that go completely wild when they see their football heroes. The number one hit ‘Schouder aan Schouder’ [Side by Side], sung by Guus Meeuwis and Marco Borsato, can be heard during the commercial.

Beesie is also putting his best foot forward to support the Orange team online.
On Facebook and Hyves, users can make their own Beesie supporter banners for themselves and their friends. And a special online toolkit enables Hyves users to pimp their profile page in Beesie style, to show that they support the ‘Orange team’, just like Beesie. Beesie has his own Wikipedia page and will also be twittering during the World Cup. What's more, football fans can send one another specially designed Beesie emoticons via Windows Live Messenger and upload photos with Beesie on a Beesie Flickr site.
