March 10, 2010, Carlisle, PA – From now through Easter, many customers are preparing more seafoodbased meals in observance of Lent. GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets are proud supporters of sustainable seafood programs, using suppliers who fish and farm seafood with methods that minimize environmental impact. 

Since 2001, GIANT and MARTIN’S have partnered with the internationally-renowned
New England Aquarium in Boston as a means to provide consumers with wellmanaged, sustainable seafood in a program known as ChoiceCatch. The New England Aquarium has a long history of ocean conservation, research and education and works with GIANT and MARTIN’S to ensure consumers have increased access to seafood available from seafood farms, hatcheries and processing plants that adhere to sustainable seafood programs and practices. In addition, they are working
collaboratively to develop practices that produce high quality fish, while minimizing
environmental impact.
