Royal Ahold, the international food provider, has appointed Arjan Both Vice President European Sourcing effective January 2, 2001. He coordinates the joint procurement activities of Aholds European operations.
Until recently, Both was chairman of the Board of Konmar, a Dutch supermarket chain. He previously represented Unilever in various senior management positions in The Netherlands and abroad. Both, 42, studied at the Rotterdam School of Economics.
Aholds European retail operations generated 2000 sales of almost Euro 17 billion through activities in The Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Poland.
The store chains increasingly cooperate in areas including sourcing, logistics and distribution, IT, food safety and private label development.
