Royal Ahold, the food retailer, has appointed Gerard van Breen Senior Vice President, Global Sourcing, effective January 1, 2000. In this position, he will be responsible for the development of coordinated purchasing among Aholds subsidiaries and joint-venture companies worldwide.
Until assuming his new position, Mr. van Breen will continue as President & CEO of GVA/Gastronoom, Aholds institutional food supply subsidiary. In addition to his current position at GVA/Gastronoom, Mr. van Breen has held positions at Albert Heijn Institutional Food Supply, AC Restaurants and Associated Marketing Services, an alliance of 11 European food retailers. Mr. van Breen was employed by Bols Nederland and Colgate-Palmolive prior to joining the Ahold group of companies.
