Giant presents $2 million to  area schools

Thursday, May 25, 2006

Giant Food LLC has presented $2 million in grants among over 3,600 area schools that benefited from the company’s 2005-2006 A+ BonusBucks program.

Over the prior 17-years, Giant has contributed over $73 million in cash and classroom educational aids to area public and private schools. Historically these grants have been used by the schools to fulfill school needs including the purchase of new classroom educational technology, library aids, musical instruments, as well as to fund field trips and school sports programs.

Giant’s A+ BonusBucks school program ran from October 2, 2005 to April 1, 2006. The program provided opportunities for Giant and Super G customers to assist local schools by making purchases with their BonusCard. Schools then received points or “BonusBucks” for every consumer dollar spent using the BonusCard.

Customers designated schools to receive their A+ BonusBucks points from their Giant or Super G BonusCard purchases.

A listing of all cash awards given to all of the participating schools is available on Giant’s website, www.giantfood.com.
