I've mentioned Corsicana a few times: it's a fairtrade and organic pineapple supplier in Costa Rica. We started working to get official fair trade certification on their products in October I think. Now it's July and we're still not there. This is taking far too long!
I even went to the Fair Trade Labelling Organization in Bonn to talk about it. Great organization, but so far no results. I am now fed up with it. We need to introduce those pineapples. Today I called the Dutch Fairtrade office again and they are also pretty annoyed by these delays. Fairtrade as system a great invention. Now I think the system has become too complicated. When I talked with Luuk Zonneveld, the director of FLO, I also mentioned that we need speed, transparancy and volume to make Fairtrade an even a bigger success. Yintroduce those pineapples... And for this Fairtrade salad we had the farmers certified in... YES, three weeks! Can you imagine. All things are possible!
