Zaandam, 8 March 2005- The Ahold Arena Netherlands announces two appointments today. Maarten Dorhout Mees has been appointed Etos Managing Director with immediate effect. As from 25 April Wouter Kolk will assume the position of Gall & Gall Managing Director.
Since 1 August 2003 Mr. Dorhout Mees has been Managing Director of Gall & Gall, and, since 1 July 2004, has been combining this with the post of acting Managing Director of Etos. As from 25 April Mr. Dorhout Mees will be succeeded by Wouter Kolk as Managing Director of Gall & Gall. Mr. Kolk is currently working as Personal Assistant to Hannu Ryöppönen, Ahold's Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, Mr. Kolk had been working as a regional manager in the Albert Heijn store chain.
Messrs. Dorhout Mees and Kolk will report to Dick Boer, President and CEO of the Executive Committee, Dutch Ahold Arena.
Since the end of 2003 Ahold has been working with five Arena structures. The Dutch Ahold Retail Arena includes Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall. The Dutch Ahold Arena seeks to achieve further integration of those operations that are common to all retail activities, thereby increasing efficiency and cost effectiveness. Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall will continue to serve their customers under their respective store banners. These store types include more than 1650 stores in the Netherlands, serving over 10 million customers every week. The three banners are all represented within Albert.nl, the daily home delivery service.
