Royal Ahold, the international food retailer, announced today that Daan Rouw, Vice President Corporate Security, for over 18 years, plans to retire as of June 1, 1999. He is succeeded as of February 1, 1999, by Joop Fränzel.
Rouw kept safety and security high on Ahold's priority list. He established a professional security organization at Ahold operating companies and joint ventures and was instrumental in stimulating security cohesion among them and with corporate headquarters in Zaandam.
Fränzel joined Ahold in September 1998 from Shell International, where he served for eight years as Group Security Advisor following a career as a senior officer with the Dutch military police. As Vice President of Ahold Corporate Security, Fränzel will continue to keep international company security high on the corporate agenda.
