Royal Ahold, the food retailer, has appointed Klaas A. Springer Vice President and Treasurer, with effect from November 1, 1999.
Mr. Springer was previously Treasury Manager at ING Investment Management. He succeeds Paul H.S. Zandstra who will join the management team of Gall & Gall, Ahold's Dutch wine and liquor chain as Controller, with effect from January 1, 2000.
Ahold is a rapidly growing international food retailer with leading supermarket operations in the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia. Annualized sales worldwide amount to approximately USD 35 billion. The company operates 4000 supermarkets, hypermarkets and specialty stores, with 300,000 associates serving over 25 million customers each week.
